The series picks up right where it leaves off on the first book. Katy has a trace from Daemon's alien mojo and they have to work on getting the trace to fade so the arum wont go attacking Katy again. Katy talks to Daemon in the library and asks if he can feel the same warmth on the back of his neck like it does hers when they both are near each other. Daemon explains it could be a side effect from the healing. As the evening goes on katy starts to get sick and ends up with a high fever and goes into the hospital. Once katy returns to school after being in the hospital for four days. A new student comes into class and is Katy's trig partner. Soon Katy starts getting abilities like Daemons and accidents around the house is happening. Katy starts getting close to Blake and when one evening they are out a tree branch breaks off in the parking lot and Katy stops it midair in front of Blake. (Dislike Blake, Evil! ;) katy goes to a party at Dee and Daemon's house with Blake threw out the evening of the party Katy got jealous of Ash and Daemon and when she went to go outside to cool off from the jealousy and she comes across Simon and ends up making another incident with her abilities in front of him. Things continue on as normal until Katy starts to not be able to control her abilities and things start moving on there one and hurt her and Daemon explains its all about control with the source. Along the way Daemon tries to show Kat that his feeling for her are real and Katy doesn't believe him for how he treated her when they first met and how he was a douche to her. When school starts on

Monday Katy learns that Simon went missing. They go to the field where parties were held and the last fight with Baruck had happened and when they are searching the area the DOD show up unexpectedly. As the holidays come up Daemon surprised katy with decorating the Christmas tree. Katy then goes out with Blake and during dinner Blake freezes everything and fights arum and katy learns that Blake is a hybrid just like her and Daemon soon finds out that Blake is a hybrid. Blake offers to teach Katy how to control her abilities and Daemon tries to convince Katy not to trust or work with Blake. Along with trying to show Katy how he truly feels about her, but Katy pushes him away before she realizes how she truly feels about Daemon. As the training with Blake continues, Daemon tries to on more than one occasion convince Katy to not train or trust Blake, but Katy is trying to prove herself that she isn't a problem and can handle herself. And Daemon gives up trying to reason with Katy. Blake tries to get Katy to tell him who healed her, but that’s one thing she wont answer or give hints too. One night on training Blake tells Katy about opal and what it can do to help them as hybrids and how it increases there abilities. When Katy was going to pick up the mail from the post office and she notices a black expedition and notices someone who should be dead. BETH. When Katy and Daemon talk to the group and Matthew in forms them that if Beth is a live and Dawson healed them. That means the two are connected if one is dead so is the other and that means that Dawson is alive and that Daemon and Katy are connected also. Katy and Blake go out to eat outside of town and when Blake finally decides to go Katy's obsidian necklace warms on her chest and she knows an arum is close. Blake informs her that they are in training. Katy of course is pissed and when the arum tries to attack her when Blake disappears in the woods. Katy uses her abilities and obsidian necklace to kill the arum. When Christmas morning came around Katy chats with Will in the

kitchen and learns that will is Bethany's uncle. Daemon explains to katy that he followed Vaughn just outside of Petersburg to this wear house. They make plans to go and investigate the area. When it comes to them searching out the wear house Daemon goes inside to see what's in the wear house and when he's late to coming out Katy gets worried and tries to go find him when two guards almost capture Katy they put a stone to her cheek and they learn that she's a hybrid before they can capture katy Daemon shows up and kills them. As days go on Katy learns the Vaughn is Blake's uncle. When Katy and Blake are driving to get dinner katy finds Simons watch with blood on the floorboard of his truck. Blake tries to explain what was going on and how he was connected to the DOD and that his friend who healed him was going to be killed if he doesn't try to get Katy to be a liable subject. But he ends up hurting Katy when he explains what is going on to her. When they get back to Katy's house he tries to get her to get Dee and Adam not to come inside the house and when they go to leave Blake is soon trying to take Katy to the DOD, but Dee and Adam enter the house on the second floor and try to stop Blake. However when all the Luxen show up Blake ends up having to fight off Dee and Adam and ends up killing Adam and hurting Dee badly. When the DOD and Vaughn show up to get Katy, Daemon ends up killing the Arum and Vaughn before they can take Katy away. Daemon heals Dee before she is dead. When Katy and Daemon talk after what went down. Katy finally tells Daemon how she's feels about him and he does also. Daemon tells Katy after the events slow down that they need to stick close together incase the DOD show up and that they can be ready for it. When they return to school Katy gets sent to the principles office and Will informs her that she has been in a car accident. When will goes to drive them to the hospital he actually takes her to a wear house where she is kept in a cage and is tortured by the DOD until Daemon shows up and Will demands him to heal him in return he will let Katy go. Daemon does as he wishes and recuses Katy. Will also informs them that if he does this he will get Dawson free. Dawson shows up within hours of them returning home.
