The fifth book starts right where Origin left off after the Luxen invaded earth. Katy and Archer argue a lot about what to do or if they should go search for Dee, Dawson, and Daemon. Katy goes to talk to Beth and finds out that she's three months pregnant. Katy and Archer go to the store to get supplies for Beth and when they are shopping thunder sounds and blasting starts happening and when Katy and Archer go to look out the front doors there are Luxen outside. The Luxen has stopped time. The Luxen started to enter the store after the time started up again for people. And they started killing humans. Katy and Archer witness a Luxen taking over a human woman's body and completely destroying the human within it and taken over the body itself. In the chaos Katy feels Daemon near by however she mistakes him for Dawson and when another Luxen tries to kill Katy, Dawson blasts Katy with the source before the other Luxen can kill Katy in the process. When Daemon finds out what went down with Dawson and Katy he hits Dawson in the jaw. Daemon goes and talks to Rolland a Luxen in charge and Dee tells Rolland about how Katy is a hybrid and how they are connected. When Daemon goes to Katy he finds a Luxen in her room and Daemon threatens him death if he tries anything with Katy. (of course he does) Daemon heals Katy before leaving her. When Katy wakes up from her injuries Dee is in her room and completely different towards Katy. When Katy is sent the office to meet with Rolland and the others. Daemon is forced to restrain Katy and allow the Luxen who was in her room to try to assimilate her DNA with his. However it doesn't work out that way, because of Katy being a mutated hybrid. Rolland warns Daemon that he will kill him if he becomes a traitor to his kind. Katy learns that a lot of Luxen are taking over important people and using that as leverage to keep the humans happy. Katy and Daemon learn more about what Rolland and the other Luxen plan to do.

When Rolland and the Luxen are going to a press converse for the public and Katy learns that Sadi is a origin and knew about what was going on between her and Daemon. When Katy summons the source while in the car she hits Sadi with the source and when she gets out of the car and hitting Sadi with the source repeatedly Daemon and Dawson get in the picture and a full on battle between them and the other Luxen starts soon Nancy and Daedalus show up and recuses them and taking them to a military base and there Luc and Archer along with Beth are there. Nancy explains why they are keeping them safe and what Luc has a threat on Nancy. Nancy also explains that Daemon and Katy are connected, but it isn't life or death for both of them. There serum prevented that. Katy learns later the reason why Daemon, Dawson, and Dee went with the invading Luxen that when there were so many Luxen around that they were connected and it was hard to think for themselves. Katy and Daemon soon meet the general who is in charged of Daedalus and the program along with a higher ranking than Nancy and has explained things to them what shouldn't of happened and how they are going to whip out the invading Luxen in the cities that they have taken full control over. The weapons will end up destroying the cites along with the Luxen's and humans. Katy and Daemon make a deal with the general before they try to use the weapons on the cities that they get the Arum to help destroy the invading Luxen. Before Katy, Daemon, and Archer leave to go meet Hunter an Arum the general tells them that they will be free of the government and Daedalus including there friends and family. When they are on the road they sense Luxen near by and end up having to fight them off. When they finally meet up with Hunter the learn that the leaders name is Lotho and they go underground in subway tunnels to go to the underground city that the Arum have built as there home. When they go to try to talk to Lotho about having them as there Arum Army. Lotho insults Katy which ends up with her bitching Lotho and Arum out and Lotho almost kills Katy by choking her until Lotho decides to speak with them privately and makes a deal with them if he can feed off Katy then they have there Arum Army. When Lotho knows that they are willing to do anything he decides to give them the Arum army to Katy and Daemon. When the gang goes back to Hunters brother house Lore to R&R for the night Dee shows up with a group of Luxen and Dee tries killing Daemon however Katy gets between Dee and Daemon and end up fighting Dee and breaking her connection with the Luxen and freeing her. They get Dee back. They decide to go back home to Petersburg everything looks the same expect there are a lot of Luxen around. When Katy goes inside her home she finds her mom however a Luxen has taken over her body and her mom is no longer alive. Katy ends up killing the Luxen that invaded her body. Katy breaks down after killing the Luxen that took over her mom's body. Soon Ethan smith walks in to Katy's house and explained he was behind the invading Luxen and that when they exposed themselves back in Los Vegas he sent a message to the Luxen and they started to Invade the earth wanting to take over the planet for themselves. And also learned that he had kat's mom taken over to get to them. Katy ends up pulling the trigger on Ethan before he could escape when Kat started to shake the house from all the emotions. She kills him before he can escape. When they went outside after killing Ethan Luxen were everywhere and war started between them and when Kat was chasing a Luxen they ended up in a Luxen colony and Arum started showing up and killing the Luxen one by one. After the fighting was over katy and Daemon's family were free from the DOD and Dedalus however Nancy shows up and ends up shooting Daemon almost killing both of them before Katy kills Nancy.
